HOW DO WE RECEIVE THE BREAD OF LIFE?

Updated: Apr 7

Hello once again my beloved reader. In this second lesson, I will explain a little farther on the Topic: The Bread of Life. Now we will read a few more scriptures to get a clearer view: Juan 6:53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, except ye eat the flesh of the son of man, and drink of his blood, ye have no life in you.

We will read the verse before this one which reads: John 6:52 reads: Then the Jews begin to argue sharply among themselves, how can this man give us his flesh to eat?

Jesus said that the words that He was speaking to them are spiritual and not carnal. Later as we read farther down in John 6:63 It is the Spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing; the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

In John chapter six, Jesus talks a great deal on this topic of the bread of life but in all, eating the bread of life does not in any way involve any physical substance that we need to take. Keep in mind that this is a spiritual conversation Jesus is talking to his disciples. I want to read to you two portions of scripture found in the book of Romans which talks about the Spirit and the flesh. First, we will read Romans 8:1... There is therefore now no condemnation to them which are in Christ Jesus, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit.

Ok, just to let you know that the words flesh, and Spirit will constantly be address throughout the New Testament. If we want to be saved, we have to stop living in the flesh and start living in the Spirit. And the Apostle Paul mentions them throughout his writings in the New Testament. I will explain the difference between these two as we get deeper into our study in receiving the bread of life.

Now Romans 8:2 For the law of the Spirit of life in Christ Jesus hath made me free from the law of sin and death. This verse means that those that are trying to keep God's commandments on their own without the Spirit of God, can never keep all the law of Moses because Christ hadn't yet died on Calvary. The law of Moses only exposed all of our sins, but we didn't have the resources or the power to overcome sin until Jesus died and rose from the dead. He now gives us the power to fight the devil off. But we can only do it in the Spirit or Christ in our hearts, but that is when you have already invited him into your life, and that, we will read a little later.

Let's read two more verses in Romans 8. We have read verse 1 and 2 now we will read verse 3, For what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his own son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sin, condemned sin in the flesh.

As I said earlier, When Jesus died on the cross, he once and for all, killed the sinful flesh, the sinful human man, by crucifying it on the cross. So, when we say yes to him to be our savoir, or eat of the bread of life, we will be able to fight off all sin and temptation and sickness. Aleluya! Lets read verse 4 which is part of verse 3

That the righteousness of the law might be fulfilled in us, who walk not after the flesh, but after the Spirit. So, once we have Jesus on the inside, we can fulfill the law because we are not weak anymore because of Jesus death and resurrection.

Well, this whole Chapter of Romans is a must study. There are tons of information that will help us in this amazing walk with Jesus. I want to get to Chapter ten of Romans which I said I was going to read. Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Now let's read verse 10 For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

This is the scripture that I wanted you to read and see that when someone confesses Jesus as Lord and savior and believes that he rose from the dead, you are justified, and you shalt be saved. You believe in your heart and confess with your mouth. This is what Jesus meant if you eat the flesh of the son of man, believe in him. Say it with your mouth and when you say it with your mouth you are confessing unto salvation. Jesus will dwell in your heart, and this is not about any physical bread like in the Old Testament when God gave them Mana to eat from heaven when they were in the wilderness. When I got on my knees and invited Jesus into my life and when you do to, you have eaten the Bread of Life and you have eaten his flesh and drank his blood. And this is when Jesus said in verse 63 It is the Spirit that gives life, and flesh counts for nothing. The Words I have spoken to you are spirit and they are life.

And this is why there is no real change in people's hearts and lives. The flesh that Jesus was saying for us to eat and the blood that he was saying for us to drink, is none other than his body that he gave to be crucified. He gave his body to be hang on the cross. Well, we have come to the end of this lesson but there is a lot more to talk about this bread of life who came down from heaven and gave his life to all the world. LET US PRAY.
