REPETITIVE SACRIFICES ARE OF OLD

Updated: Feb 11

Greetings to all of my readers in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ. In this lesson I will continue talking about the very important subject of repentance. It must be address because many people are trying to do God a service but without his will. What do I mean by that? They are being taught the wrong way to find repentance and they are still lost without Jesus in their lives. I will read this scripture from God's word, because this scripture will give us a clear view of what I will be talking about. Hebrews 10:14 For by one offering he hath perfected forever them that are sanctified. In other words, with this one sacrifice on the cross he took care of all of our sins, past, present and future. When we commit all of our life to Jesus, we don't have to repent nor do penance every week or every month because Jesus already suffered and paid the penance and price for our sins. When we accept that one sacrifice Jesus did, we are born again, and we are new persons in Christ. Of course, we still need to pray, fast and read God's Word every day to keep us from sinning.

Probably some of you are not too familiar with God's Laws that were given to Moses when the Israelites were on their way to the land of Cannan which is now present Israel. God had just delivered them from the bondage of Egypt. During their journey he gave them laws to go by and also the sacrificing of animals for offering for their sins. In my recent post I gave a few points about the laws and commandments of God he gave to them, but they were not able to keep his commandments. Romans 8:3 reads for what the law could not do, in that it was weak through the flesh, God sending his son in the likeness of sinful flesh, and for sins, condemned sin in the flesh. The Law that God gave to Moses only exposed their sin and because Jesus had not yet died on the cross and resurrected from the dead, the Adam sin was still well and alive in all humanity, but Jesus later condemned sin in the flesh. By giving his life, his body on the cross, he did away with our ancestor's sin once for all.

Before Jesus started preaching the Gospel, He came to John the Baptist to be baptize of him and when John saw him, he cried out and said Behold, the lamb of God which takes away the sin of the world. (John 1:29) In the Law of Moses, they sacrificed animals for remission of their sins, now Jesus was about to be sacrifice on a cross as a lamb for the sins of the world. We must read Hebrews 10:1 The Law is only a shadow of the good things that are coming, not the realities themselves. For this reason, it can never, by the same sacrifices repeated endlessly year after year, make perfect those who draw near to worship.

Verse 2 If it could, would they not have stopped being offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.

They would have been cleansed once for all. A child of God thrives to get closer to God every day. When all of us make a genuine repentance, there is no need to make any more sacrifices. In one of my lessons, how can we receive the Bread of Life, I explained how to repent with your heart and confess with your mouth and you will totally be transformed.

Now we will read Hebrews 10:3 But instead, those sacrifices actually reminded them of their sins year after year. Verse 4-7 or it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins. Verse 5 Wherefore when he cometh into the world, he saith, Sacrifice and offering thou did not desire but a body hast thou prepared me, 6 you were not pleased with burnt offerings or other offerings for sin, verse 7, then I said, here I come as it is written about me in the scroll, I have come to do your will, O God.

Now the Word of God teaches us so many things that pertain to our salvation. Now there are churches today that are still doing repetitive sacrifices, can you name some? I'm not talking about the sacrificing of animals, but I am talking about people repenting over and over again because they still keep breaking God's commandments. Why? Simply because they are not doing it like the Bible teaches. Read my two lessons that I wrote earlier how I explained how God says, it must be done.

As I read these scriptures my beloved reader, it is so clear how God reveals his Word to us.

We need to continue reading a few more verses of Hebrews 10 because God has written in his book what not to do and what we must do to be accepted in his kingdom. Jesus is coming back like he said he would, to take away the church he died for, and his church must be pure and Holy without blemishes and wrinkles. Well, I will end my lesson here, but I will continue talking about this subject on the other post. May God bless you as you read my lessons and he reveals his Word to you.
